Concordia University online lecture
2021-11-12

Our Grade 12 students participated in an online lecture from Concordia University this Thursday.

Rui Ji, senior admissions officer from Concordia University, brought a rich and detailed introduction to this university.
She not only introduced the application requirements of Concordia University, the advantages of each faculty and the characteristic services of employment guidance, but also introduced in detail the city Montreal where it is located, clothing, food, housing and transportation of students. I believe that through her introduction, all Grade 12 students can have a deeper understanding of Concordia University and be more determined in their goals.

Concordia University has always been favored by our students. Yao Jingyuan, the outstanding graduate of 2016, graduated from Concordia University. She also served as Campus Ambassador to provide consultation and assistance to Chinese students studying in this university.

Concordia University was founded in 1974 by the merger of Sir G. Williams University and Loyola University. With an enrollment of approximately 46,000 students from over 130 countries, Concordia is one of Canada's largest and most international institutions of higher learning. It has more than 100 undergraduate programs and more than 100 master's and doctoral programs, and the teaching language is English. Ranked among the top ten comprehensive universities in Canada, it is famous for its rigorous scholarship.

Every university has its roots in a city of its own. Concordia University was born in Montreal, Canada. Founded in 1642, Montreal is the oldest and the second largest city in Canada, the second largest French-speaking city in the world, and is rated as one of the safest cities in the world. Montreal is a major international financial center, ranking 16th in the global Financial Centers in 2014. Montreal is a commercial city and many big international companies have their headquarters here.

Montreal is the most European-style city in North America, always known as "Little Paris"; Montreal is a culturally rich city, named "Cultural Capital of Canada" by Monocle magazine. Montreal is an artsy city, named by UNESCO as "Best Designed City"; Montreal is a very inclusive city, with a large number of international communities giving the city an international atmosphere; Montreal is a dynamic and contemporary city and was named as "The world's Best summer city" by LONELY PLANET magazine.

Concordia university consists of four schools: Business, Arts and Science, Engineering and Computer Science. The university has two campuses located about seven kilometers apart: the modern Sir G. Williams Campus in a busy downtown area; The other is the classical-style Loyola Campus, in a quiet, elegant neighborhood on the city's west end. There is a free school bus service between the two campuses every day, which takes about twenty minutes each way. Each campus has its own library, which is open 24 hours a day all year except holidays to meet different student schedules.

The John Molson School of Business at Concordia University is widely recognized as a world-class business school. It is the first Business school in Canada to be accredited by AACSB (less than 5% of business schools in the world have been certified)). Also accredited schools are reviewed every five years to retain their accreditation. The business school is also the cradle of cultivating "business giants". It is the business school in Canada that produces the most top executives (CEOs) of the "World Top 500" companies. More than half of the CEOs of Canada's "World Top 500" companies have studied here. Its finance major ranks first in Canada for consecutive years, and its accounting major has also topped the rankings for many times.

Concordia attaches great importance to the combination of teaching and social needs, and is committed to cultivating talents who have rich knowledge and skills and can be independent soon. With the advantage of being located in the North American economic and modern downtown Sir George financial center, it has established close relations with companies in various industries. During the study period, international students can apply for "paid internship" to cultivate and exercise their local work experience and ability, so as to lay a good foundation for getting jobs after graduation.

Every year, more than 2000 large Canadian and internationally renowned companies come to university to attract talents, creating a broad job market for graduates. Concordia pays attention to the connection of international business schools and uses the international school cooperation center to develop this trend. The cooperative associations of university are distributed in the United States, central and South America, Caribbean and Pacific coastal countries, Africa and most European countries. Its scientific research projects have been greatly developed in Britain, Greece, Italy and other countries.
