Slash Youth-Sun Yuecheng
2021-12-22

Sun Yuecheng, the president of the Student Union of this year, can be described as the person of the year 2021 in the Sino-Canada Program. He won the Governor's Medal in the second year of high school, starred in musical, cello accompaniment in various parties, and was a master of programming.

A brilliant student of science and engineering who could program, with many musical talents, he became the most popular candidate for president of the student union.

Now let's follow the editor to unlock how this talented person on campus came to be!

PS: Slash youth refers to a group of people who are no longer satisfied with a single lifestyle, but choose to live a diversified life with multiple identities. For example: Zhang San, journalist/actor/photographer. "Slash" became synonymous with them. The slash youth is becoming more and more popular and has become a lifestyle that young people are keen on.

When it comes to the love of programming, sun Yuecheng said that his interest began when he was a child. "When I was in primary school, I started to play with highly programmable robots, and when I was in high school, I began to learn programming systematically. I believe that only when I like it and have practicability can I have the motivation to learn."

Sun Yuecheng not only turned his hobbies into his specialty, but also applied this specialty to all links of daily study and life. "Recently, in order to facilitate our teachers' online collection of homework, I have made an homework submission platform - Basket, which will be updated to be used by the whole school in the near future. These are very good practice opportunities. It is difficult to have real original project experience just following the curriculum."

In addition, the curriculum of our program also plays an important role in Sun's specialty development. "In addition to the traditional basic courses, such as English, Mathematics, physics and Chemistry, the Programming, Drama and Entrepreneurship courses offered in the second year of high school not only broadened my horizon, but also enabled me to master more learning methods and comprehensively improved my learning ability."

In the eyes of teachers, Sun Yuecheng is not only sunny, confident and versatile, but also actively participated in the school music club activities in the second year, and participated in various activities organized by the Student Union. So for him who loves music, what role does music play in his study and life?

"As one of my hobbies, music is also a way for me to relax. Playing a musical instrument is also a good way to relax after a long time studying or programming. I just love it because I love it, and my foreign teacher Matt's encouragement when I joined the musical club gave me great courage."

Sun Yuecheng used holidays to experience western education in primary school and spent a long time in high school in Canada before entered our program. "After I returned to China due to the epidemic, I was lucky enough to find a school whose teaching content and form can seamlessly integrate with foreign courses."

Sun Yuecheng said that because the courses in the Sino-Canada Program are closer to his previous study experience, he finally chose our program to complete his high school study after a comparison and balance.

Coming to the Sino-Canada Program brought him more positive changes. "I have become more confident and I used to study in a monotonous way, but here I can do more extracurricular activities, including music and programming, while maintaining the quality of my study."

Take Sun Yuecheng's favorite teacher Matt for example, "Mr. Matt's class is very different. One of the assignments is to make a short history play together. I don't like history and I'm not very good at remembering historical events, but I love filming and editing. In order to complete these tasks, I need to be familiar with the script, understand and remember classic historical events in teamwork with my classmates. "I think this kind of teaching format both stimulates my interest in the course and gives us a more immersive interpretation of historical events."

Currently, the university application process is underway, and Sun Yuecheng is aiming for the prestigious Computer Science major at the University of Waterloo in Canada. "I also plan to continue to learn computer programming, hoping to learn the world's most cutting-edge technology, but also to bring the knowledge back to China."

Positive and talented! We believe that Sun will be admitted by the target university soon. We also believe that in the near future, we will see him continue to show his talent and realize his dream in the computer field.
