The warmest love is felt on the coldest day. The Sino-Canada Program at Soochow University High School shared beautiful music, voices, smiling faces and love to warm the hearts of many people of Suzhou.
On the evening of January 13th; the beginning of the year 2019, CITY OF LOVE Charity Concert brought together the Sino-Canada Program Family and Tang Mama Charity Center. Together they created music that surrounded the the people in Dushu Lake Theatre and drifted into the night air. In a spirit of togetherness and caring donations were collected for some children in need of love and hope.
Special thanks to Tang Mama Charity Organization for giving students a platform to share their feelings of love for other children. Students and staff spent the evening spreading feelings of selflessness and generosity through musical notes, beautiful voices, backstage and front of the house organizing and logistics to help the evening unfold with ease and joy.
Our program not only regards charity as an important part of our daily work, but also continues to provide more opportunities for students to participate in charity activities. It is the hope of staff and school management that our students will experience the joy of giving to others and continue good deeds into the future as citizens of a caring and socially responsible world.
After nearly two months of preparations, with the support of the various leaders and departments of Suzhou and Suzhou Industrial Park, the concert attracted caring citizens who donated the following funds:

Ms. Tang Chongyan appeared on stage and spoke to the audience with her legendary, heartfelt passion. She has curly hair and always wears a yellow vest. Her image is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. She never tires, and she has been walking on the road of charity for more than a decade, passing on the power of love.
Canadian Principal of the Sino-Canada Program at Soochow University High School, Ms. Beth Raymond, was humbled to have an opportunity to be a part of such a grand, worthwhile event.
This concert is not only a stage for youth to show their talent and skills and bring joy to everyone, but also a time for everyone to learn about public welfare, to feel the warmth that one experiences when you give from the heart.
The Poly WeDo Suzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra was established in 2017 and currently has 120 members. All members are from Suzhou, including Kunshan, Wujiang, Zhangjiagang and other places. Although the orchestra is young, it has become one of the largest and highest quality youth symphony orchestras in Jiangsu province. Their performance was nothing short of magical!
The excitement on the stage is inseparable from the great efforts of the volunteer staff. Our Program sent nearly 100 performers, volunteer teachers and students, all working together as a team to support this concert.
The preparations, whether the rehearsal, on-site support, donation subscription, participation in charity sales; every action was done knowing their efforts would bring hope to others.
The purpose of the concert was to raise funds for the “Poor Mountainous School Clean Water Project”, the “Schoolbags to Remote Areas Project”, and the “Shiny Firefly Special Dilemma Children's Public Welfare Project”. All of these projects are simple and direct actions to designed to reach children in poor mountainous areas of the country, and improve the futures of special children in Suzhou.
Thanks to the efforts and time freely given by all who joined the team to present this years CITY OF LOVE Charity Concert, special children in remote areas will be warm, drink clean water and have supplies for learning. A perfect result coming from the generosity of the people of Suzhou who came out to a concert one cold winter night and left with warm memories of sharing music and love with others.
